Terms of use

The use of this Portal is subject to the terms set out below. Use of the Portal is taken as proof that the visitor / user has studied, understood and accepted the terms of its use. Should the visitor/user not agree with the terms of use of the Portal, they are obliged not to make use of its services and content.

These terms of use may be revised and updated at any time without notice. Please refer to the Portal’s terms of use regularly, as continued use will be taken as acceptance to all amendments made to them.

COPYRIGHT

The entire content of the Portal, apart from those exceptions which are explicitly referred to as such, (henceforth ‘content’) are the intellectual property of the Lampakis Family Archives (henceforth ‘LFA’) and are protected by the national, community and international law that is currently in force.

The LFA retains the copyright to the content and to any copies made of that content. The content of the Portal is made available to visitors/users for their personal use and not for commercial purposes.

The content can be changed without notice at the discretion of the LFA. Subsequent to acceptance of the terms of use, non-commercial use is permitted and the content can be reproduced in part or in full on condition that the material reproduced is made available without charge on the Internet or other appropriate medium and that its source is clearly and distinctly referenced. Usage of any other sort requires the express written permission of the LFA.

For questions relating to the right to reproduce any part of the Portal’s contents and applications seeking approval for reproduced content, please contact the LFA.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA AND CONFIDENTIALITY

The use and protection of the personal data of visitors to / users of the Portal are subject to the terms of the current document and to the provisions of the national, community and international law relating to the protection of the individual and the processing of personal data as this applies in a given case. Any future provisions relating to personal data protection and confidentiality will automatically become part of this document. In all cases, the LFA retains the right to modify the terms relating to the protection of personal data in accordance with the legal framework in force at the time. Portal users are asked to refer to the terms in questions at regular intervals for any amendments made.

The LFA only collects the personal data of Portal visitors/users when this data is voluntarily provided in order to gain electronic access to the services the Portal provides. Personal data is data that can be used to identify or contact a person and other information relating to the individual in question. The Portal collects the following personal information:

  • First and last names
  • Father’s and mother’s names
  • Profession
  • Address
  • Phone/Fax Numbers
  • Email address

 
The LFA will not put up for sale or otherwise transfer or publish the personal information of Portal visitors/users to unrelated third parties without the consent of the visitor/user, except when required to do so by law, in which case the information will only be released to the competent authorities.

The visitor/user may contact the LFA in order to confirm the existence of a personal record and to correct, amend or delete it.

The LFA can—in the future—use technologies such as cookies and/or Internet Protocol address monitors to collect data for recognizing users. Cookies are small text files which are stored on every visitor/user’s hard disk and which do not access any document or file on their computer. They are used to facilitate the visitor/user’s access to the Portal and their use of given services and/or pages for statistical purposes and in order to determine which areas of the Portal are useful or popular. The data collected can also include the browser used by the visitor/user, their computer type, operating system, Web services provider and other information of this sort. In addition, the Portal’s information system automatically collects information on the locations visited by the visitor/user and on the links to third-party sites they clicked on during their use of the Portal.

Portal visitors/users can adjust their web browser settings so they are notified in advance when cookies are used for a particular service, allowing them to not accept the use of cookies. Should the visitor/user of the services and webpages in question choose not to allow cookies, he can have no further access to them.

The Portal includes links to other websites for which third parties (natural or legal persons) are responsible. The LFA is in no way responsible for the data protection policies of these websites.

APPLICABLE LAW AND OTHER TERMS

The above terms and conditions of use pertaining to the Portal, and any modification or alteration to them, are subject to national law, community law and the relevant international treaties. Should it be found that any provision of these terms is contrary to the legal framework outlined above or rendered redundant by it, that provision will cease to hold and will be removed from the present document without this impacting on the validity of the remaining terms in any way. The present document constitutes the entire agreement between the Portal administrator and the visitors/users of its pages and services; it is binding on those alone. No modification to these terms will be taken into account or constitute part of this agreement until it has been published in writing and incorporated into these terms.

It is hereby expressly agreed that, given that they are not resolved amicably, any differences that may arise from the application of the present terms and from use of the Portal by the visitor/user in general are subject to Greek law and under the jurisdiction of the Athenian courts.

Should you wish to communicate with the Portal administrator, please do so via e-mail. In addition, please inform us if any problems come to light which raise legal or moral issues in relation to the content of the Portal, especially when they relate to reproduction of that material and to intellectual property rights.
